Logitech QuickCam Notebooks Pro |
Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro February 2004, $99 I have finally found a notebook camera that I am reasonably happy with. The picture quality is quite good and holds up under dim lighting. Sharp and clear with clean colors and good contrast. I did have some trouble with light flair from my window. Oddly enough, with the window within the frame of the camera, but behind the subject, the flair isn't as bad as when the window is just outside the image frame. While its mounting bracket is flimsy and a bit awkward, it does stay in place once the camera is set and aimed, despite its lack of a tight hold on the notebook monitor. Like the Veo notebook camera, the Logitech can't be rotated horizontally, only vertically.

When putting the camera in its carrying case you must bend the cable at a sharp angle where it comes out of the bottom of the camera. As a result I am a bit concerned that the cable will eventually break at the camera entry point. I find the carrying case just a bit larger than I would like, but then I am comparing it with the Veo Mobile.
All in all, this is a good camera for portable use. However, unless you need the portability, you will get a much better camera with the QuickCam Pro 4000 at the same price. Product Specifications:
